When is the best time to visit Egypt?

Last Updated On December 02, 2022

Between October and April is the best time to visit Egypt, when temperatures are milder but still comfortable throughout the country. This makes traversing Cairo's crowded streets, visiting the desert Pyramids, and discovering old Pharaonic tombs more comfortable and enjoyable.

The summer season (May to September) is hot, but the heat is mitigated by very dry air, air conditioning, fewer visitors, and reduced pricing. This suggests that summer is still an option for your travel. There is also a bit of a breeze on the Nile around this time, making a river cruise a suitable option.

Weather in Egypt

Throughout the year, the weather and climate of Egypt are pleasant. Egypt, on the other hand, is primarily a dry country with relatively little rainfall each year. So bring an umbrella for the heat rather than for the rain.

Summer and winter are the two major seasons of Egypt; however, with some rain between the two seasons, you may also see some spring and autumn.

The Winter Season

The winter months in Egypt will not affect you, especially if you come from a colder nation. Of course, you'll need a jacket, but the winters here are mild, particularly in the south.

Winter begins around October. However, the cold winds can be felt from December to February. With a high temperature of 26 degrees Celsius, the temperature can drop to 18 degrees Celsius, which is not considered cold in the western portion of the world. This is excellent since you can wear that shorts or dress even in the winter without freezing.

Because the weather in winter is mild, you can enjoy the lovely daytime temperatures. However, the same cannot be valid for the nights, as the temperature drops considerably as nighttime approaches.

The Summer Season

Summer, unlike winter, is now a whole different tale. As previously said, winter temperatures are extremely high; nevertheless, summer temperatures are extremely high.

Summer in Egypt is scorching, with temperatures ranging from 30 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius, with temperatures occasionally reaching 50 degrees Celsius. Summer in Egypt lasts from May through September, with August being the hottest month.

Summer days can be quite hot; however, the temperature lowers at night. As the sun sets, it becomes cooler and more pleasant. Because of the high heat, most tourists avoid visiting Egypt, and the popular tourist attractions will be deserted.

The Autumn and Spring Seasons

Between Egypt, spring is in March and April, and fall is in October and November. As a result, if you wish to visit Egypt when the weather is beautiful, plan your trip for spring or autumn.

The 'Khamsin' wind blows from the desert in the south towards the end of March and into April, causing hot air to circulate. However, in the spring, temperatures can range from 11 to 28 degrees Celsius, and in the autumn, temperatures can range from 21 to 33 degrees Celsius.

Because of the good daytime weather, this time of year is ideal for a variety of activities and day trips. Furthermore, these seasons coincide with Egypt's peak and low visitor seasons, allowing you to take advantage of affordable Egypt excursions.
