Unawatuna is another coastal town known for its beach, corals, and rich biodiversity, located around 5 kilometers from Galle and 108 kilometers from Colombo. This little town teems with stores, restaurants, hotels, and fashionable cafes. Unawatuna is ideal for swimming and resting due to its breathtakingly picturesque semicircular length of shoreline lined with palm trees and tranquil ambiance. Many native bird species, as well as turtles and fish, have been sighted in Unawatuna.

Unawatuna is a popular diving destination, so diving schools with instructors are available to ensure guests have a memorable diving experience. Divers can also explore nearby shipwrecks and coral reefs called Rumassala. Snorkeling is another thrilling pastime in Unawatuna. Snorkeling equipment can be purchased or leased in the surrounding area. Another popular activity is whale watching at Mirissa, a city near Unawatuna, where both dolphins and whales congregate due to the favorable warm coastal conditions.
The magnificent and captivating Unawatuna beach, with its sandy shoreline, restaurants, and cafés situated alongside palm trees, is regarded as one of the world's most beautiful beaches. The Jungle Beach is an ideal location for an outstanding snorkeling adventure. Because this beach is uncrowded, it is also suitable for doing nothing but swimming, relaxing, and savoring the moment. Dalawella Beach is another renowned beach in Unawatuna, known chiefly for its palm tree rope swing (the Insta-worthy swing), from which you can soar towards the Indian Ocean.
1. The Unawatuna Beach
Unawatuna's main beach is popular with both visitors and residents. The long, wide beaches provide excellent swimming opportunities, and a section of the beach is reserved for rentable loungers. A short walk from the beach's western end leads to a pagoda statue with a view of the bay.
The beach is directly connected to the city center and has numerous small restaurants and bars. Even after sunset, there's a terrific beach atmosphere going on.
2. The Jungle Beach
Snorkeling is possible in many locations in Sri Lanka, with Jungle Beach being the most popular. Jungle Beach is a teeny-tiny bay surrounded by jungle. A coral reef is only a few meters from the beach. It is not as accessible as Unawatuna Beach, but it is well worth a visit if you have the time. It's around a 10-15 minute drive from Unawatuna's town center.

Dalawella Beach, just south of Unawatuna's crowded main beach, is one of my favorite beaches and possibly the most famous and scenic stretch of beach in Sri Lanka.
Dalawella Beach in Sri Lanka has become a picture-perfect hotspot because of its spectacular beautiful rock formation, a thrilling beach swing, and an abundance of low-bending palm palms. If you want to do some nature photography, go early in the morning or at dusk. It's been a busy day here, especially since it went viral on Instagram.

7. Surfing at Dewata Beach
Dewata beach, located in Dewata town, is a well-known surfing destination in the country. The beach also offers a surfing school with skilled teachers, making it an excellent site for tourists to learn to surf. The consistent beach and sandy bottom make surfing safe and enjoyable here. Surfers can rent boats and refresh themselves with coconut water and fresh juices after their session.
